More Than A Gym!

At GET FIT Hendersonville we use holidays to host client events and complete HERO Workouts. Our functional fitness program completes the workouts as written and then we come up with a fun way for our boot camp members to participate in a partner format. The workouts are always great and our members get to bring family members, see friends they haven’t seen in a while, and enjoy some food and fellowship with each other.

This year for Labor Day our crew participated in the Lumberjack 20. The workout is as follows:

  • For Time

  • 20 Deadlifts

  • 400 meter Run (split between partners)

  • 20 Kettlebell Swings

  • 400 meter Run (split between partners)

  • 20 Overhead Squats

  • 400 meter Run (split between partners)

  • 20 Burpees

  • 400 meter Run (split between partners)

  • 20 Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups or Ring Rows

  • 400 meter Run (split between partners)

  • 20 Box Jumps or Step Ups

  • 400 meter Run (split between partners)

  • 20 Dumbbell Squat Cleans 400 meter Run (split between partners)

On November 5 2009 at 1:34 p.m., a terrorist named Major Nidal Hasan attacked fellow soldiers and civilians at Fort Hood, TX. He killed 12 soldiers and one civilian and wounded 43 others. SPC Frederick Greene, 29, of Mountain City, TN, PFC Aaron Thomas Nemelka, 19, of West Jordan, UT, PFC Michael Pearson, 22, of Bolingbrook, IL, and SPC Kham Xiong, 23, of St. Paul, MN, along with eleven of the wounded were active CrossFitters in the 20th Engineer Battalion, home to Lumberjack CrossFit.

We are not affiliated with CrossFit nor are we a CrossFit gym but as a gym and a gym family we find it important to honor the lives of fallen soldiers! Post workout our group tie dyed t-shirts and chowed down on some Chik’ Fil’ A. The shirts turned out great and smiles were in abundance all day long.

If you are looking for a place that is not just a gym but also a family you found it. You may come for the workout but you will stay because of the people.
