Motivation and Doing the Work

So many times we are told find our “Why”?

“WHY” do you really want to achieve the goal you believe you want?

It’s easy for me to use weight loss as example, so let’s do that!

People tell me everyday that they want to lose weight, I see posts all over my social media asking questions about how to lose weight, it safe to say that a lot of people want to lose weight. They want to do this for a variety of reasons: Some people want to lose weight because they want to look like someone else does and some people want to lose weight because they want to be able to play with their kids and grandkids and be happy and comfortable in their own skin.

These different reasons are driven by external motivation and the other one by internal motivation. What happens if you lose the weight but:

You still aren’t happy

You still aren’t comfortable

You still lack confidence

You still can’t play with your kids and grandkids

Was all of that effort really worth it?

The problem, according to Jay Shetty in Think Like A Monk is that “external goals cannot fill internal voids.” (I’ll be honest, most of my goals typically have both internal and external motivation and whys behind them.)

It takes some searching deep within you to find your true “WHY”. Once you have your deep, internal why it’s time to focus on the work and the process, not the outcome.

What will it take to lose the weight so you can be happy and play with your kids? The first two steps include consistently working out 3-4 days each week and making better food choices.

The million dollar question… Are you willing to do that work and put in that effort in order to lose weight so you can be happy and play with your kids?

Life is going to throw all the curve balls it possibly can at you. Injuries, sickness, possibly even decreases in income, sick kids or pets, you name it… the world is going to hit you with those hurdles.

Will you keep doing the work to reach your goal?

The truth is even if you don’t lose all the weight, you can still be happy with your effort and with the process and you’ll probably be able to play with your kids – if you keep doing the work.

We promise to keep showing up and doing the work to help you if you promise to keep showing up and doing the work to help yourself.
