FIT Hendersonville- Drakes Creek Athletic Complex

Imagine this… it is a beautiful fall day in Hendersonville, TN. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the temperature is perfect. What would you do?

The most obvious answer.... GET OUTSIDE! That is definitely what I would do! Find a place to possibly do some work, get in some exercise, or relax and enjoy an unplugged moment in nature for a second.

I know just the place to do this! The first park to be featured in our new FIT Hendersonville series is (drumroll)… The Drakes Creek Athletic Complex! I pull up next to the baseball fields in this beautiful complex and take a moment to check out all the things around me. There are baseball fields, soccer fields, football fields, and tucked back next to the river is a beautiful walking path.

The park has a couple of pavilions and several picnic tables to sit at and get some work done, or head over and enjoy a picnic lunch by the river. There are plenty of trees to tie a hammock up in and take in the sights. With all of this if you still can’t find something to do give this workout a try!

Start at the baseball fields and run/walk along the river for about a mile until you reach the fitness park at the east entrance of the Hendersonville greenway. Once you have arrived do the 16 minute Tabata* workout featured in the video. Just use the equipment located right there in the middle of the park. After you complete the Tabata walk or run back to your car or adventure further up the path and check out the Hendersonville Library. Not much of runner? You can park at the Hendersonville East entrance off of Sandersville Road and access the fitness park from there!

On my adventure through this complex I noticed several playgrounds! Some were big, some were small, it appears they have something for kids of all ages. If you have a family event coming up and need to rent a pavilion you can do that too, click here! I hope you enjoyed the first post in our FIT Hendersonville series, stay tuned for more!

*Tabata- Tabata training is a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, featuring exercises that last four minutes. Tabata is great to get a quick workout in if you're short on time, you need to switch up your routine, or you want improve endurance and speed.
